Toto Fence Installation: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide
We install Toto-compatible fence panels and hardware in Pasadena, with most jobs priced between $3,500 and $9,000 including materials and labor. If your fence is leaning, the gate drags, or a panel came loose at the post, we can usually get it fastened, leveled, and back in service in a single visit. Most Pasadena homeowners discover the failure the morning after a Santa Ana wind event, or the first time the gate catches and won’t clear the walkway anymore.
The work tells you everything. You just have to know how to listen to it. And what we hear from Toto fence projects in Pasadena is usually the same story: great panels, posts that weren’t set deep enough for clay-heavy foothill soil, and hinges that loosened over two or three dry seasons. We’re an independent local contractor, not affiliated with Toto. But we know the product lines, we know what fails first here, and we stock what the truck needs for the common fixes.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto fence systems break into three rough families we see around Pasadena: the residential vinyl privacy lines, the aluminum estate-series panels, and the steel tube frames used for pool enclosures and side-yard gates. The compatibility gotcha most owners don’t realize is that the post caps and hinge brackets are series-specific. A bracket from Toto’s vinyl line will not seat properly on their aluminum profile, even when both rails measure 2 inches by 1.5 inches. If you’re ordering parts yourself, match the stamped code on the inside of the post cap, not the panel measurement. We’ve had to re-order for neighbors on North Marengo and in the San Rafael hills who guessed by tape measure alone.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Toto’s original hinge brackets are fine hardware, but the aftermarket stainless equivalents available for the aluminum line often outlast them in Pasadena’s dry-heat cycle. The only place we insist on OEM is post caps with integrated lighting, where the aftermarket copies don’t seal as tight around the wiring channel. For the vinyl lines, any UV-stabilized replacement picket that matches the panel’s rib profile will work. If you’re unsure what you have, a photo of the end profile sent to us beats a guess every time.

Signs Your Toto Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate starts dragging or won’t latch. In Pasadena’s clay soil, even well-set posts move an eighth of an inch over a couple of dry years. That’s enough to pull the latch out of alignment. Almost always the post, not the panel.
- Panel rattles in wind but doesn’t detach. This is usually worn bracket bushings. Santa Ana gusts hammer on the connection points, and once the bushing cracks, the panel rides metal-on-metal and gets progressively worse.
- White chalky streaks below post caps. This is UV oxidation on some early Toto vinyl lines. It’s cosmetic at first, but it signals the cap seal is failing, and water is getting into the post channel.
- Picket pulls free of the lower rail. The rail’s grip channel loses tension over temperature swings. One loose picket on Nordhoff-style panels usually means the neighboring pickets will follow within the year.
- Post leans more than five degrees. In Bungalow Heaven and the older foothill neighborhoods, older Toto installs often missed the 24-to-30-inch post depth our soil needs. A lean that visible means the footing was never sufficient.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Plan on $3,500 to $9,000 for most Toto fence installation work in Pasadena. The low end covers replacing posts, brackets, and a damaged section on an average Pasadena side yard, roughly 30 linear feet. The high end is a full aluminum estate line with gate rebuild and hardware, 60 to 80 feet. What moves the number most: total linear footage, whether we’re replacing posts or just panels, and whether the gate hinges need the post header rebuilt. Our written price lands in your hands before any of our uniformed technicians start, and the number you approve is the number on the invoice. Every replacement carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely diagnose a lot from the ground: check for daylight under the post cap, push on the panel to see where the play is, and note which hinge moves first when the gate binds. But resetting a post in Pasadena clay is where DIY goes sideways. Digging to proper depth near established yards means you’re almost always fighting roots and packed soil, and a post that’s six inches too shallow will lean again by next October. Vinyl rail channel work and any fence with integrated lighting are also worth handing off. If you’d rather not spend a weekend and still find the gate sticking in January, call us at (626) 657-5396. The estimate is free, and any repair is covered by our guarantee.
FAQs

A properly installed Toto fence in Pasadena lasts 15 to 25 years for aluminum lines and 20-plus for vinyl panels, though post-set depth and sun exposure are the real governors. Call (626) 657-5396 if yours is failing early and we’ll tell you why before recommending any work.
Sometimes yes. If the post is structurally intact and the lean is under ten degrees, we can often reset and brace it with a new footing rather than pull the whole section. The repair has to make sense for the panel load, not just look straight on day one.
A post replacement and panel rehang typically takes one day on site, sometimes two if we’re pouring new footings that need cure time before re-hanging the gate.
We stock the common hinge brackets, post caps, and vinyl picket profiles for Toto’s main lines, and we can order series-specific hardware within a few days if your model uses something unusual. Call (626) 657-5396 with the code from your post cap and we’ll check the truck before we schedule.
