Belgard Kitchen Remodeling: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide

Belgard kitchen remodeling in Pasadena typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 for a full project, and we install Belgard-compatible surfaces, pavers, and outdoor kitchen components as part of that scope. Most Pasadena homeowners call us after discovering their Belgard paver countertop has cracked, their outdoor kitchen surface has shifted, or the Belgard veneer stone behind the range has started pulling away from the wall. You’ll usually notice it first as a hairline crack that widens during summer heat, or a paver that rocks under your hand when you lean on the island.

We stock common Belgard replacement pavers, edge restraints, polymeric sand, and veneer stone ties for kitchen projects. If the part you’re chasing is on our truck, we can often swap it the same visit. If it’s a specialty Belgard profile, we order it to spec and install it once it lands.

Which Belgard Models This Applies To

A stone counter, tile backsplash and open shelf after a kitchen remodel

Belgard kitchen remodeling parts fall into two buckets: outdoor kitchen components (paver countertops, paver islands, veneered bases) and indoor transitional pieces where Belgard’s thinner paver lines get used as accent surfaces. For outdoor kitchens, the compatibility question is almost always about paver thickness and profile. Belgard’s standard paver countertops run 60mm thick, but their thinner plank profiles and some veneer stones come in 30mm to 40mm. You can’t mix those on the same countertop plane, they’ll never sit flush, and the edge restraint won’t engage the way it should.

To identify what you have, flip a loose paver or look at the edge of the countertop overhang. Belgard stamps the series name on the underside of most pavers: Cambridge, Mega-Arbel, and Aqualina are the three we see most often on Pasadena outdoor kitchen builds. The OEM-versus-aftermarket decision is easy here: Belgard’s color blends are proprietary, and a generic paver from a big box store will not match the fade pattern of pavers that have baked in Pasadena sun for even two years. We use OEM Belgard replacements for any visible surface. For hidden components like edge restraints and base material, quality aftermarket equivalents work fine.

One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Belgard changed the chamfer profile on Cambridge pavers around 2019. The older profile has a sharper 45-degree bevel; the newer one a softer rounded edge. If you’re replacing one paver on a pre-2019 kitchen, a new Cambridge paver will sit at a slightly different edge angle, and you’ll see it every time you look at the countertop. We’ve seen homeowners chase this for weeks. We keep both profiles on order for older Pasadena homes.

Signs Your Belgard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Rocking pavers on the countertop surface. The paver isn’t seated in its leveling bed anymore, usually because the underlying sand or aggregate settled after a winter of Pasadena rain followed by summer dry spells. One rocking paver is a nuisance; three in a row means the whole base under that section needs to be re-leveled.
  • Hairline cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. That’s not the paver failing, that’s the foundation under the outdoor kitchen island shifting. Cracks that trace a straight line across several pavers tell you the concrete slab or base frame is moving, and replacing paver by paver will just keep cracking them.
  • Polymeric sand washing out from the joints. You’ll see little piles of sand on the patio after rain, or joints that have settled below the paver surface. When the joint sand goes, water gets under the pavers, weeds show up, and the pavers start shifting horizontally.
  • Veneer stone pulling away from the kitchen base or backsplash wall. This is a moisture problem. In older Pasadena craftsman homes near Bungalow Heaven, we see the original wall surface wasn’t properly water-proofed before the Belgard veneer went on, and trapped moisture is pushing the stone off the wall. The fix means pulling the loose stone, addressing the moisture, and re-setting with correct ties.
  • Edge restraint bending or lifting at the countertop lip. The metal or plastic restraint that holds the pavers in place is losing its anchor. This usually happens on outdoor kitchens where the lip gets hit by knee traffic or mower bumps. Once the restraint lifts, the outer row of pavers has nothing holding it, and the whole countertop edge starts walking outward.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

A full Belgard kitchen remodel in Pasadena runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed. That’s the spread between a modest outdoor kitchen refresh with Belgard paver surfaces on the low end, and a complete indoor-outdoor kitchen overhaul with veneer stone, paver countertops, and structural work on the high end. What drives the range: total square footage of paver surface, whether the base under the island needs rebuild work or just re-leveling, whether you’re replacing veneer stone (labor-heavy) or just paver edging (fast), and whether we’re matching an existing Belgard color line that’s still in production.

Every quote from us is a written line-item price before we start. You’ll see the part cost, the labor, and the haul-away in separate lines, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. If the wrong paver profile or a color mismatch is an issue, we flag it before ordering anything, so the number doesn’t change on the day of install. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year. If the paver cracks again or the sand washes out because of something we should have caught, we make it right, in writing, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split from Luca Romano, who has worked on plenty of older Pasadena kitchens with tricky bones. You can safely check the obvious stuff: count how many pavers are rocking, look for joint sand that’s washed out, push on the veneer stone to feel for movement. That diagnostic work is yours, and it helps us quote faster when you describe it by phone.

Where DIY goes wrong on Belgard kitchen parts: mixing paver profiles (the chamfer issue we mentioned), using non-Belgard replacement pavers that visibly don’t match, or relaying pavers on a base that’s actually shifting and needs aggregate work first. We’ve also seen homeowners pry up veneer stone, rip the moisture barrier underneath, and create a bigger problem than the one they started with. If the edge restraint is lifting or the stone is pulling away, there’s usually a structural reason that only shows once you open it up. Call (626) 657-5396 and we’ll walk you through what to look for before any work is booked.
