Meet the Pasadena Team Behind Sawyer Remodel Pasadena
Every remodel in Pasadena runs on the same thing: people who show up on time, say what they mean, and clean up when they’re done. Our crew has worked on Craftsman bungalows in Bungalow Heaven, mid-century ranch houses in San Rafael Hills, and condos near Old Town. What unites them is simple. They hate surprises as much as you do, which is why every job gets a written price before work starts, live arrival tracking, and photo updates throughout. You’ll know who is walking into your home before they ever ring the bell. That’s how we’ve run things since 2005.

Our People

Luca Romano, Owner & Lead Contractor
Luca founded Sawyer Remodel Pasadena in 2005 after years of watching contractors promise one thing and deliver another. His approach is direct: if he wouldn’t put it in his own house, it doesn’t go in yours. Luca personally reviews every written estimate before it reaches a client, and he walks every job at least once before the final invoice is sent. He holds a California contractor’s license and has spent nearly two decades working through the specific headaches of Pasadena remodels: older foundations, lath-and-plaster walls, and the permitting quirks that come with historic district homes. When he’s not on a job site, he’s usually testing a new material supplier or arguing with his espresso machine. He wins about half those arguments.
Marcus T., Senior Installer
Marcus has been setting tile and hanging cabinetry for 14 years, the last six alongside Luca. He’s certified in Schluter waterproofing systems, which matters in Pasadena bathrooms where older homes shift and a poorly sealed shower pan fails fast. Marcus is the guy who catches framing problems before they become drywall problems, and he’s known for fitting cabinet runs with tolerances most installers won’t attempt. His specialty is making transitions disappear: the tile-to-wood floor line, the countertop-to-backsplash seam, the places where a lesser job shows its gaps. He’s got a soft spot for mid-century remodels and keeps a 1962 ranch in Altadena as his ongoing test kitchen. Ask him about the original terrazzo floors he saved last spring.
Dana K., Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice on the phone when you call (626) 657-5396, and she’s been answering live since 2018. No voicemail loops, no callbacks from a queue. She schedules the walkthroughs, tracks the permits, and sends the digital invoices you pay from a link. Dana also manages the photo update feed: every project gets before, during, and after shots sent to the homeowner as the work progresses, not a pile of pictures dumped at the end. She grew up in Pasadena and knows the difference between a permit counter wait at City Hall and one at the county building. If a subcontractor is running late, Dana finds out before you have to ask. If you need a material sample, she has it waiting at your door.
Ben R., Apprentice
Ben joined the crew two years ago after leaving a corporate operations job because he wanted to build things he could point at. He’s learning tile, framing, and the fine art of dust control, and he’s already earned his OSHA 30 certification. Ben handles a lot of the job site protection: floor coverings, zip walls, the daily end-of-day cleanup that keeps a remodel from taking over your life. He is also responsible for the photo documentation, which means he’s getting very good at noticing details before they become problems. He asks a lot of questions. That’s the point.
One Standard, Every Job
The Relay Standard is the operating system for this crew and every location in the Relay Home Co. network. Written price before any work starts. Live arrival time tracking so you know when the truck pulls up. Before-and-after photo updates so you can see the progress without standing in the dust. A digital invoice you pay from a link, not a paper envelope taped to the door frame. And behind all of it, the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing, for a full year after the project closes. Every member of this team, from Luca to Ben, works on the same terms. No exceptions, no arguments, no fine print. Call (626) 657-5396 to schedule your free estimate, and we’ll put a name and a face to the crew before the first tool leaves the truck.
