Boxabl Fence Installation: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide
Boxabl fence installation in Pasadena typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed, and we carry the components on our trucks so most jobs are done in a single visit. You usually find out your fence line has failed after a windstorm rolls through the San Gabriel foothills, or when the gate starts dragging against the concrete and won’t latch. Maybe a post is leaning hard enough to see from the street, or the panel gaps have opened up enough that your neighbor’s dog has found a new shortcut into your yard.
We’re Sawyer Remodel Pasadena, and we’re an independent Pasadena contractor, not affiliated with Boxabl. That independence means we stock what actually fits their enclosure systems and we tell you the truth about what’s worth replacing versus what’s worth repairing.
Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

Boxabl’s enclosure and fence components follow a repeatable modular spec, but there’s a compatibility gotcha you need to know: the fence panel hardware changed between early production runs and the current gen. Early-run panels used a different post bracket offset, so a bracket ordered to spec from a later model year will sit proud of the post face by about a quarter inch. We always pull a measurement off the existing post before we order anything.
To identify what you’re working with, check the inside face of a post near the base. Boxabl stamps a two-letter series code there, and that code tells us more than the model name on your paperwork does. On OEM versus aftermarket: Boxabl’s own fence components are fine, but the lead time from their supply chain can drag out to six or eight weeks. Quality aftermarket powder-coated steel posts and panels from our regular Pasadena suppliers match or beat the OEM spec and we can have them in hand within days. For a fence that’s already failed once, we usually recommend the aftermarket route unless you’re under a warranty claim.

Signs Your Boxabl Fence Installation Is Failing
- Posts leaning away from the property line. This is almost always a footing issue. Pasadena’s clay-heavy soil expands and contracts through the wet-dry cycles, and a footing poured too shallow will heave and loosen. A lean of more than a couple degrees means the base is compromised.
- Panels rattling or deflecting in moderate wind. The bracketry that ties panels to posts loosens over time. Once one bracket loses tension, the panel starts working against the others, and the noise is your early warning before a panel lets go entirely.
- Gate sag causing a hard latch or a scrape along the concrete. The hinge posts take more load than any other component. When they start to pull, the gate drops a half-inch and suddenly the latch catches wrong. This one gets worse fast if you ignore it.
- Powder coat bubbling or flaking at the base of posts. Pasadena irrigation overspray and morning marine-layer moisture sit on the bottom six inches of the post. Once moisture gets under the coating, rust starts, and the post wall thins from the inside out.
- Visible cracks in the concrete footing or cap. In older Boxabl installs around Pasadena, footings were sometimes under-sized for the wind loads coming off the arroyos. A cracked footing means the post’s anchor point is failing, not just the post itself.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the price picture for Pasadena, and it includes everything: parts, labor, haul-off of the old fence, and a written line-item quote before we start.
- Partial repair (gate hinge post, 1-2 panels): $3,500 – $5,000
- Full fence line replacement with aftermarket steel posts and panels: $5,000 – $7,500
- Full replacement including new concrete footings, gate hardware, and trim caps: $7,000 – $9,000
What drives the difference? The length of the fence run, access to your yard for equipment, and whether we’re cutting out and repouring footings or reusing existing ones. Every quote we write includes the exact material list and labor breakdown, so the number you approve is the number you pay. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing, for a full year after the job closes.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely inspect your own fence. Check the post bases for rust, give each panel a firm shake, and watch the gate close. What you shouldn’t do is try to re-set a leaning post or replace a failed bracket yourself. A steel post that’s torqued under load can kick when you unbolt a bracket, and a dropped panel edge will take a chunk out of whatever is below it. We’ve seen a few Pasadena homeowners learn that the hard way.
If the problem is cosmetic, like a scuffed powder coat, a rattle-can touchup is a fine Sunday project. If the problem is structural, call us at (626) 657-5396 and let us put eyes on it. Luca Romano has been working Pasadena properties long enough to know what these fences do after a few years of foothill wind, and he’ll tell you straight whether it’s a repair or a replacement.
FAQs

In Pasadena’s climate, expect 8 to 12 years from the original install before the footings or post bases need real attention, and 15-plus years from a properly done aftermarket replacement with deeper footings and sealed posts. The original under-sized footings are the weak point, not the panels.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to one or two posts, a gate hinge, or a loose bracket, a targeted repair is the right call and usually lands in the $3,500 – $5,000 range. If you have three or more failing posts or widespread rust at the bases, replacement costs less per year than chasing repairs. Call (626) 657-5396 and we’ll give you an honest read before any work is scheduled.
Most repairs are done in one day, and a full fence line replacement typically takes two to three days, depending on whether new footings need to cure before the posts go in. We coordinate the concrete pour and the panel install so you’re not looking at a torn-up yard any longer than necessary.
We stock the common aftermarket brackets, posts, panels, and gate hardware for Boxabl-compatible systems on our trucks, and we can source OEM components if you’re under warranty. No six-week waiting game unless the OEM route is your call.
If your Boxabl fence is giving you trouble in Pasadena, call us at (626) 657-5396 for a free estimate. We’ll show up, tell you what’s actually wrong, and put the price in writing before a single post gets pulled.
