CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide

We stock and install CertainTeed-compatible kitchen remodeling materials throughout Pasadena, with full kitchen remodels running $14,000 – $45,000 depending on footprint, cabinet line, and countertop selection. Most owners call us because a cabinet hinge has torn out, a countertop edge has chipped, or a backsplash has cracked behind the range. You’ll get a written price before we touch anything, and Luca Romano is the one who walks your kitchen and tells you what’s actually worth fixing versus what’s ready for replacement.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s kitchen line isn’t a single product family the way their roofing is. In kitchens, CertainTeed shows up in specific places: backsplash wall panels, ceiling panels, and certain trim and molding products that get paired with cabinetry from KraftMaid, countertops from Cambria or Silestone, and fixtures from Kohler. If you’re holding a CertainTeed panel with a faded label, measure the panel thickness first. CertainTeed panels run in 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch profiles for kitchen use, and the 1/2-inch is far more common in Pasadena homes built after 1990. The gotcha is the trim profile: CertainTeed’s edge trim uses a tongue-and-groove channel that won’t accept generic hardware-store trim. You’ll want OEM trim, or a millwork-shop match, or the panel face will sit proud and look wrong. We keep OEM CertainTeed trim in stock on the truck for the most common Pasadena profiles.

Signs Your CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Hairline cracks running up from the countertop seam. This usually means the panel was installed tight against the counter with no expansion gap. Pasadena’s dry heat cycles cause thermal movement, and CertainTeed panels need a 1/8-inch reveal at the counter line to stay quiet.
  • Warping or bowing behind the sink. Water has gotten behind the panel edge, usually at an unsealed seam. Once the backer absorbs moisture, the panel face starts to pull away and no amount of adhesive will hold it flat again.
  • Chalky white residue on the panel face. That’s the panel surface oxidizing, which happens faster in Pasadena kitchens with direct afternoon sun. It’s cosmetic, but it means the protective layer is gone and stains will start setting in.
  • Loose edge trim that clicks when you press it. The trim channel has cracked or the panel tongue has snapped. It’s a one-piece fix if you catch it early, but the panel is trash if the tongue is broken.
  • Musty smell from under the sink cabinet. A failed CertainTeed panel behind the sink lets water wick into the cabinet box below. By the time you smell it, the cabinet floor is usually compromised too.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

If you’re replacing a failed CertainTeed backsplash or wall panel in Pasadena, that’s typically a $800 – $2,500 job including tear-out, drywall repair if needed, new panel, trim, and caulk. If the water damage has spread into cabinetry or the subfloor, the scope shifts into cabinet installation range at $4,000 – $13,000, or a full kitchen remodel at $14,000 – $45,000. We write the line items out before work starts: material, labor, haul-away, and permits if the job needs them. No change orders unless you request a scope change, and the price on the invoice matches the price you approved. Every replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the panel fails within a year, we make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

CertainTeed panel replacement is easier than it looks, and harder than the YouTube videos admit. You can safely pull a loose trim piece and check the panel tongue for damage. You can also inspect the seams with a flashlight to see if water has gotten in. What you shouldn’t do is pry a bonded panel off the wall with a flat bar anywhere near electrical boxes, or try to cut and fit a new panel without a proper track saw and the right jig set. A crooked seam on a CertainTeed panel is permanent. If you’re in Bungalow Heaven or anywhere else in Pasadena with older walls, the studs behind those panels are rarely square, and shimming them right takes a practiced hand. Call (626) 657-5396 and we’ll give you an honest read: sometimes a repair is a one-hour job, and we’ll tell you that instead of selling you a panel you don’t need.
